Sunset and a cold drink on a rooftop overlooking Budapest. What else could you want?
On hot summer evenings, a rooftop bar is the best place to go. Pick a drink, chill and enjoy
the marvellous sunset. Here are some tips to find the best rooftop bars in Budapest!
Some advice for starters
Rooftop bars are becoming very popular in the last few years across Europe and Budapest
is no exception. There are several great places on both sides of the city, each with their own
stunning views, drinks and atmosphere. They might differ price and vibe-wise so do a little
investigating before deciding on which one fits best. When you do decide, make a
reservation! Due to their popularity, the rooftop bars can be crowded during summer,
especially on the weekends. Also, check their social media sites beforehand as sometimes
they are closed for private events. Many of them offer special programs as well which you
can participate in, such as live music nights, wine tastings or cocktail making workshops.
Andrássy út 39, 1061
One of the most famous rooftops in Budapest is 360 Bar. It’s located on the most beautiful
avenue of the city, Andrássy út. The building is spectacular! It used to be a department
store, now officially closed, and you’ll find the 360 Bar on the rooftop of the Párizsi
Nagyáruház, with the entrance on the right of the old store. After taking the elevator up to the
top floor, you’ll enter this beautiful place with a 360 degree view of Budapest. It’s open
during winter as well, but to be honest summertime is the best time to visit. You can see the
whole city from here, all the roofs of Pest and the Buda hills as well. 360 Bar is rather laid
back so it’s perfect if you just want to chill.
There are many amazing programs and events every week, such as daytime parties, DJ
nights, yoga classes and BBQ events. Sometimes these programs have entrance fees, so
make it sure to check their Facebook details before visiting.

Located on the top of the Aria Hotel, the High Note Skybar was voted one of the best rooftop
bars in the world! It is literally a stone’s throw away from the St Stephen Basilica making it a
perfect spot for snap-happy instagramers! High Note is open throughout the year, so you
won’t miss it during winter. They serve lunch as well, while in the evening you can try
delicious cocktails. It is more on the fancier side, however, but it’s perfect for birthday parties
and for anyone willing to get down on bended knee to propose to their loved one! Since it is
very popular and the location is breathtaking, reservation is a must!
Deák Ferenc utca 5 Váci 1. Office Building Rooftop, 1052
St Andrea is a very stylish and classy bar, great for a fancy night out in Budapest! Tucked
away at the end of Budapest’s main shopping street, Váci utca, the location guarantees a
stunning view of the Buda side, the Danube and Parliament. St Andrea offers a great
selection of Hungarian wines, and they have their own reputable winery so we recommend
you try some! You can also grab a bite to eat here with a unique selection of bar food on
offer.

As the name suggests, The Duchess offers a royal experience in the city. Close to Elizabeth
Bridge, the bar is on top of Matild Palace, a beautiful building. The bridges look the best
when lit up, so plan your visit here in the evening. The Duchess also has an inside lounge,
so if the weather gets chilly, you still can enjoy the view. The cocktail selection is super
unique and high quality so your only challenge will be choosing which ones to try!
Clark Ádám tér 1, 1013
If you happen to be on the Buda side, check out Leo! It’s perched on the top of Hotel Clark,
just at the end of the Chain Bridge. Although the location is super fancy, Leo is rather on the
laid-back side. Offering one of the best views of the city, they have an in-house DJ playing
cool sets from Thursday to Sunday. No wonder it became the favourite of international
celebrities as well, with many actors visiting the sky bar while shooting on location in
Budapest. The champagne selection in Leo is extensive but don’t worry if you prefer
cocktails. Their classic drinks always come with a nice, modern twist.

The Sky Garden is a newer establishment, on the top of the beautiful Mystery Hotel. It’s
close to the Nyugati Railway station making it a perfect destination to chill out after a day trip
or a jaunt around town. The Sky Garden, true to its name, is a beautiful suspended garden
with a super chill environment, kind of like an oasis nestled in the roof of the city. It’s perfect
if you are craving an aesthetically pleasing green environment. Grab a drink or try their
restaurant, either way you won’t be disappointed!

If you are more interested in soaking up the vibes than the view and just want to find the
hippest, coolest rooftop in Budapest, then Instant-Fogas is the one for you! Located in the
heart of the party district, this rooftop bar is part of a bigger club complex (Instant-Fogas) in
the 7th district. It also has an inside bar for the colder days but from spring onwards the
rooftop is the real deal. While it doesn’t offer the best view of Budapest, the vibe is just the
coolest! Drinks, small concerts, funky atmosphere, what else do you need? And with Fogas
just downstairs you can descend after a few drinks to experience an all-night party that you’ll
never forget!
