It’s sometimes easy to forget that Hungary was under Soviet control for almost half of the 20th Century. By 1949, Communism had taken it’s hold and military and political power wouldn’t be handed back until the fall of the Union in 1990.
Set against the backdrop of the first international airport in Hungary, you now have the opportunity to get really up close and personal with the vehicles that defined the Cold War Era on a private guided tour of over 150 vehicles. From T55 Tanks to Soviet fighter planes, Cold War Park will transport you back in time to a world where Big Brother watched your every move…
If the tanks and helicopters aren't enough for you, why not include an interactive demonstration of the guns and munitions used by the Hungarian People's Army throughout the Cold War era. You will get to handle and dismantle genuine weapons from the era (all deactivated of course for safety) such as the AK-47 and an AMD-65.
