Taste the very best of Budapest with the help of a local guide who will take you and a group of fellow foodies on a tasty adventure where you’ll try authentic Hungarian street food and traditional dishes. What are you waiting for? Experience Budapest’s history and culture through its cuisine and get tipsy!
Much of Hungarian cuisine has deep roots in Jewish culture and tradition, telling the resilient history of their people. To better understand the influence that the Jewish community had on the food you’re going to try, our tour will begin at a synagogue with a brief introduction from an expert guide.
This tour takes you to see both the gritty and glamorous sides of Budapest. First, we’ll start with the grit. Together we’ll wander the streets of District 7, the city’s former Jewish Quarter. Nowadays the neighbourhood is known for its vibrant nightlife and famedruin bars. These bars and restaurants might be trendy on social media, but their origin story is fascinating, and connected to the Jewish community and Hungarian cuisine. Learn these intriguing tidbits before trying authentic street food like traditional soup and Lángos, a deep-fried flatbread. Leave your knives and forks at home, because all you’ll need is an open mind!
After experiencing the bohemian part of the city, it’s time to explore the other side of Budapest—one with a bit more glamour and style. We’ll stroll down extravagant streets to stylish eateries where you’ll try traditional Hungarian dishes. You’ll try classics like nokedli dumplings and Flódni, a Jewish-Hungarian pastry. And of course no food tour is complete without something to wash it all down, so we’ll try local drinks like fruity Pálinka and sweet wine from Tokaji, Hungary’s famous wine region. But when the tour’s over, the night has just begun and since you’ll already be in the centre of the action you can continue the party with your newfound friends!
